SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Our Association is currently looking for an experienced, motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager. The position will report to the VP of Sales & Operations and will be responsible for membership growth, new business development, and event sales & support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing their work-load and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced work environment. Strong sales background preferred. Though our office is located in Farmington, this is a statewide position so candidate can be based anywhere in the state. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Membership Sales & Retention

  • Works independently, as well as collaboratively with VP of Sales & Operations, to achieve and exceed Membership revenue goals thru business development, in-person and telephone sales, and relationship management.
  • Works with VP of Sales & Operations to develop, implement and manage prospecting strategy to achieve new member revenue goals.
  • Works with VP of Sales & Operations to grow participation in Allied Member program.
  • Coordinates and hosts new member info sessions including in person events (as allowable) and virtually. Responds to all membership inquiries by phone or email.
  • Supports and maintains all active accounts and relationships with an emphasis on deeper member engagement throughout all regions of Connecticut, including in person engagement.
  • Works with VP of Sales & Operations to develop marketing and communications strategies to increase reach and support business growth.
  • Works with Operations Assistant to ensure accurate entering and onboarding of new members, updating and maintaining member records and accuracy of member directory.
  • Works with Operations Assistant to ensure timely invoicing and entering of payments, including follow up on past due or delinquent accounts.
  • Responsible for weekly and monthly membership reporting.


Event Sales & Support

  • Leverages all CRA events to drive new member sales and engage existing members. Includes special events, legislative events, foundation events, CRA seminars and others.
  • Works with VP of Sales & Operations to increase event participation by new and existing sponsors and developing new partnerships.
  • Responsible for engaging new or prospective members in CRA events, including responding to inquiries and post-event follow up.
  • Provides event support as needed, including assisting with planning and coordination leading up to event as well as event day support.

Other Duties

  • Ensure security, integrity, and confidentiality of data.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by phone and in person.
  • Maintain working knowledge and understanding of all parts of the CRA and relevant issues including legislative, foundation (CHEF, ProStart etc), ServSafe, CRA partnerships and others.
  • Attends CRA meetings as needed.
  • Supports and responds to CRA President & CEO and CRA Board of Directors as needed.
  • Other administrative, event or support tasks. Other tasks as assigned.
     

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of sales experience in inside, outside or B2B sales. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in event management, a restaurant or hospitality setting and/or non-profit management.
  • Highly motivated individual with excellent community, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills. Candidate must always be committed to providing high quality service through responsiveness to all requests and maintaining a professional demeanor. Comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
  • Maintain proficiency as needed by attending trainings, reading job-related materials, and meeting with others in area of responsibility.
  • Strong computer skills are required, which includes Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as database management. Additional experience with social media management, website development and graphic design is preferred.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time during events. Ability to lift 25 pounds without injury.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed, plus a willingness to travel with some of the trips being overnight.
  • Meet all required standards of confidentiality.


COMPENSATION:
Salary will be commensurate with skills and experience. Bonus potential.
